Nancy Mace Calls for Hunter Biden Laptop Investigation 18 Months After Scandal

Eighteen months after the contents of Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop were confirmed to be authentic and released to the public, a South Carolina congresswoman is finally calling for an investigation.

“I’ve got news for Hunter Biden: When Republicans take the majority next year, he will be called to testify before the Oversight Committee that I sit on,” Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC-01) said on Twitter. “Republicans will get to the bottom of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, which the mainstream media refused to cover in 2020.”

She attached a Fox News clip with more tough talk.

“Well, I would love to see Hunter Biden subpoenaed before the Oversight Committee,” she said. “In one particular vote last year I said that if you are not covered by executive privilege and Congress subpoenas you and you don’t show up, you could be held in contempt.”

“And I’ve got one word for Hunter Biden – I’ve got news for him – that when Republicans are in the majority, he will be called to testify before the Oversight Committee that I sit on,” Mace continued. “I know other Republicans want to get to the bottom of this. In fact, it was ironic this week that Democrats tried to hold in contempt two people who are covered by executive privilege under the previous administration, and yet are trying to cover up what’s going on with Hunter Biden.”

Mace had been silent about the scandal until her weekend Fox News interview.

While many allies of former President Donald Trump demanded an investigation in October of 2020 when the New York Post first published the contents of the laptop, Mace was silent. While the Post and its Biden laptop news story were censored on Twitter and elsewhere, Mace was also silent.

Weeks ago, The New York Times re-confirmed the authenticity of the laptop and its contents, leaving many mainstream press outlets who dismissed the laptop as pre-election “disinformation” looking foolish.

Now that The Times says the laptop is real, and now that the first-term congresswoman finds herself in a battle for her political career, she is keen to use talking points used by Trump, whom she roundly condemned during her first week in office.

Mace was, and remains, highly critical of Trump and even some of her Republican colleagues over the events of January 6.

The Star News Network reached out to Mace’s office to find out why she waited so long to call for an investigation into the laptop, but did not hear back.

Mace’s behavior as a congresswoman has earned her a tough challenge in South Carolina’s 2022 primary election.

She squares off against Trump-endorsed Katie Arrington, a former member of South Carolina’s House of Representatives, on June 14.

“Katie Arrington is running against an absolutely terrible candidate, Congresswoman Nancy Mace, whose remarks and attitude have been devastating for her community, and not at all representative of the Republican Party to which she has been very disloyal,” Trump said in his February endorsement of Arrington.

Arrington’s campaign did not return a comment request.
